Ghana has confirmed that two of its citizens sustained injuries in a drone-related incident near Dubai International Airport earlier today.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says both victims are receiving medical attention, and their injuries are not life-threatening.
According to the Ministry, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, along with officials from the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai, visited the injured Ghanaians in hospital to provide support and ensure their welfare.
The government is closely monitoring the situation while coordinating with UAE authorities.
In a statement, the Ministry condemned “any act that endangers civilian lives and critical infrastructure,” emphasizing the need to protect civilians and international transport hubs. It also reiterated Ghana’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of its citizens abroad.
The Ministry further encouraged Ghanaians living or working in the Gulf region to remain vigilant, follow guidance from Ghanaian diplomatic missions, and adhere to local safety directives.
Ghana is also engaging with the United Nations on efforts to promote the cessation of hostilities that threaten civilian safety.
