A non-profit organization, ‘100KForGhana’ has conducted free medical outreach for residents of Adidome in the Central Tongu district of the Volta region.
This is the third time the exercise is being undertaken in Adidome, starting from the year 2021 covering more than 300 people every year.
The beneficiaries were screened for BP and diabetes among other diseases with free drugs provided to those who needed them.
The exercise, is in line with the NGO’s mission of ensuring access to improved education, health care, infrastructural and social development and job creation to support the country’s economic growth in the future.
Director and Founder of ‘100KForGhana,’ Enoch Antwi in an interview with Starrfm.com.gh said the organization is committed to supporting the country’s development through impact funding.
“Our mission is to create thriving economy by providing meaningful job opportunities and better access to healthcare, education and personal development for Ghanaians,” he said.
This according to him is possible if “just a hundred thousand of the over four million Ghanaians outside Ghana contribute a particular amount to our organization (100KForGhana) I believe every year, we would be able to develop something that will create jobs and improve the country’s growth.”
He said the annual health screening is just a warm up to what the organization intends to do when it gets more resources at its disposal.
A medical doctor with the 37 Military hospital, Dr Sarah Davis who was part of the team bemoaned the lack of regular medical checkups among residents in rural communities across the country.
She said this is accounting for the increased number of blood pressure and diabetes cases the team continues to record at Adidome since the screening commenced in 2021.
She urged residents to make use of the NHIS to ensure they check their health status regularly.
Apart from Adidome, residents from Avakpedome, Bakpa, Tsawla and Amelekope also benefited from the program.
