Head coach of the Black Stars Otto Addo has admitted the team’s goal scoring abilities is a challenge that himself and the technical team are aware of and will work on to overcome.
Addressing the media at the GFA headquarters ahead of the crucial double header with Mali and Central African Republic, Otto Addo acknowledged these shortcomings and promised to address them as they forge forward.
“We will work on our goal-scoring challenge. Every game is different, but we will try our best to ensure we score more goals. “
The Black Stars have struggled in scoring goals, and this has been Ghana’s biggest challenge.
Otto Addo, however, further explained, “This will be one of the paths we’ll work on, will discuss it with the coaching stuff. Every game is different. Sometimes you have more space, from which you can score, sometimes small space, so it’s difficult for you to score. But then it’s about solutions, which we will work on to score goals, and at the end of it’s about the players who will hopefully transcend these ideas in the pitch, ” he stated.
“But it’s not easy, it’s different if playing in Europe, there are different pitches. So we have to adapt to the situation we’re in to find a way to do better and try to implement our ideas to see how we can score more goals. “
The black stars are set to commence camping on Thursday, May 30, as they begin preparations towards their two crucial world cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.
Ghana is billed to play Mali on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako and will further face off with the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10, 2024.
The Black Stars began their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 1-0 victory over Madagascar in Kumasi, followed by a 1-0 defeat to Comoros.
Currently, Ghana sits 3rd in Group I, with one win and one loss from their first two matches.
While Mali tops the table with 4 points followed by Madagascar, who share 3 points with ghana.
The Black Stars will commence their training camp on Thursday at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.
