A 21-year-old woman has died after visiting a suspected quack Doctor to abort her pregnancy.
The deceased (name withheld) who was about three months pregnant was allegedly administered injections on the buttocks by the suspected quack doctor, now on the run, to abort her pregnancy, however developed complications afterwards and was admitted at a hospital .
The deceased reportedly developed serious abscess at the buttocks and later suffered septic shock. She died when she was being prepared into an ambulance to be referred to the Eastern Regional Hospital-Koforidua.
Meanwhile, Police have arrested a 45 year old self acclaimed Evangelist (name withheld) in connection with the death of the deceased.
According to the Family, the Evangelist allegedly impregnated the decease who was a member of his fellowship. He then directed the deceased to the quack abortion doctor and later prepared a concoction of salt solution mixed with paracetamol to the deceased to facilitate the abortion process.
The matter is being investigated by the Police and the District Health Directorate as efforts are being made to arrest the prime suspect.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue awaiting autopsy.
She left behind a one and half year old child.
