Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo has assured President Akufo-Addo that his ministers will be on top of their game to ensure his vision for Ghana is achieved.

Speaking after the swearing in of 12 ministers at the Jubilee House in Accra, Mr. Maafo said “We know his [Akufo-Addo] vision, we know his Excellency wants to make a difference and on behalf of my colleagues I want to assure him that we will give him the support to make him excellent.”

He added: “On behalf of the freshest Ministers, I want to say a very big thank you to his Excellency for giving us an opportunity to serve… We shall support you and make sure Akufo-Addo’s government succeeds and succeeds very well.”

Prior to the swearing in, President Akufo-Addo tasked his ministers to live above reproach and to execute their mandate diligently to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.

“We cannot fail, we must not fail,” he opined.

“We are required to fulfill the requirements of our mandates and I’m certain with God’s guidance, the sincerity of purpose, the integrity of character and hard work, we shall deliver and honour this country…” he remarked.

He added: “The issue of corruption in public life was a major topic in the 2016 election. The Ghanaian people want an honest government, a government that would protect the public purse and ensure value for money in all public transactions. We cannot fail, we cannot fail.”

Minister for Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey would be sworn-in in Addis Ababa by the President at the Ghana embassy in Ethiopia when Akufo-Addo arrive in the country for the AU Summit.
