The 2019 Diaspora Drive, a platform created to provide returnee diasporans with the necessary business tools to settle and invest in Ghana has been slated for December 20.

The LX HR Solutions initiative has themed this 3rd edition “Interacting with Today’s Diaspora for Tomorrow’s Evolution: The Year of Return.” And will feature over 20 companies from various industries and service providers, providing participants with all the resources needed to settle in Ghana.

This will range from property ownership, to banking services, to insurance, employment, investment opportunities and many more.

The Diaspora Drive 2019 has partnered up with Top Report an international publishing company specialised in investment guidance, Ahaspora, the online platform uniting returnees, GUBA enterprise, the exclusive card offering discounts on many products and services, Ecobank the Pan African Bank, Africa Future Summit, the tech and startup ecosystem platform and Diaspora Affairs Office and the Year of Return.

This year’s event will be hosted by the Berla Mundi, moderated by Bianca Buckman and Christabel Dadzie, founder of Ahaspora.

The event will be sure to draw crowds of diaspora professionals from around the world and participants will be treated to several success stories from fellow trailblazing diasporans who have relocated and are creating trailblazing paths in their respective industries.

Speakers include Claudia Lumor, the Founder and CEO of Glitz Africa, Yaw Afriyie Amoteng, the Managing Director of Elmina Advisory, Nana Ama Botchway, Lawyer and founder of N. Dowuona & Co, Darren Brown the Head of Business Development and Procurement with the Kwarlyez Group and many more.

Diaspora Drive 2019 and ‘The Year of Return’ will be commemorating the 400 year-anniversary of the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade and providing opportunities for Africans in the diaspora to reconnect with their past and take advantage of the numerous opportunities Ghana has to offer.

Lending his support to the course of The Diaspora Drive 2019, president Akufo-Addo said “our responsibility is to charter a path which is about how we develop our nation’s ourselves.”

He further emphasized that, “the destiny of all black people in the world is bound up with Africa. A performing Africa elevates the status of all black people around the world. A non-performing Africa continues the situation where black people around the world are looked down on.”

There are over 180 million Diasporas across the globe who come from Africa, 13% come from Ghana alone. According to the African Union (AU), diasporas consists of people who are of native African origin living outside the continent, irrespective of their citizenship and nationality.

It is on record so far that the diaspora communities have made significant contributions to the progress of their living countries especially through remittance. It has become imperative for Ghana to turn the sad reality of brain drain to brain gain by identifying ways in which our people can contribute back home.

Undoubtedly, this is an opportune time for Ghana to invest in disporans, especially those who are fully committed to the development of Africa. For those seeking to return and contribute in even greater capacity it is critical that jobs and business opportunities are available. It is on the premise of this that the Diaspora Drive 2019 seeks to provide returnees with the support they require.

In looking forward to Diaspora Drive 2019, Lexy Boahene, CEO of LX HR Solutions states, “my focus is to assist returnees both abroad and locally to feel at home when they arrive on the continent, I want to provide a marketplace that will support the needs of diasporans holistically.”

The event will take place at the Ecobank Head office, 2pm.
