The 215 Police recruits at the Pwalugu Police Training School in the Upper East Region who contracted COVID-19 have all recovered, Director-General in Charge of Welfare of the Police Service Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has disclosed.
The staggering number of affected recruits was out of a total number of 274 trainees in the Upper East region.
Speaking on the Alert show with Adam Bonaa, the former CID boss said: “Yesterday, I was at the Pwalugu Police Training School and for the first time, they recorded 100% negative cases in relation to COVID-19. The trainees had a feast to celebrate the feat achieved.”
She noted all police officers have been given two reusable nose mask in order to protect them from the virus.
She also disclosed that all inmates who have been infected by the disease have all recovered from the disease.
Meanwhile, forty-five (45) new confirmed cases of Coronavirus in five districts in the Eastern region have pushed the regional case count from 623 to 668.
Out of the number, 20 were from New Juaben South, Nsawam Adoagyiri recorded 17, Birim Central had 5, 2 at Kwahu South with West Akim registering 1.
This is the second time the Eastern Region has confirmed a set of 45 positive cases.
Out of the total confirmed cases in the region, 248 representing 37% are health workers however 107 have recovered with one death.
Of the 668 confirmed cases, 438 have recorded in the region however 9 have died.
