An aide to Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, Annan Arhin Perry, has praised the ability of importers to pay in Ghana cedis for goods brought into the country.
Mr Arhin Perry described the arrangement as a significant development, saying it was among measures Ghanaians were quietly appreciating for its potential to make import-related transactions easier for businesses.
In a Facebook post, he said the option to settle import transactions in the local currency represented a positive development for importers.
“One lovely thing Ghanaians are quietly delighted about is that importers can now pay in Ghanaian cedis when bringing goods into the country; it’s a real win!” he wrote.
Mr Arhin Perry further described the development as a “masterstroke”, expressing support for the move and its potential to promote greater use of the cedi in import-related transactions.
He said the arrangement could help make the local currency more prominent in domestic business transactions involving the importation of goods.
