Two people have been shot by suspected armed robbers at Elmina Zongo in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) Municipality of the Central region.
The two, Mustapha Mohammed, 35 and Sulaiman Mohammed 28, are part of the watch dog committee for the area and they were responding to a call by residents to stop an armed robbery which was taking place in the area this dawn.
The watch dog committee is an initiative of the municipal assembly and it is expected to police the area to ward off criminals in the absence of the police as crime is quite rife in the area.
The two in their attempt to stop an unregistered motorbike which was suspected to have been involved in the robbery got shot in the process leaving them in critical condition.
The two are now receiving treatment at the 37 Military hospital in Accra.
