Empire Fm, a subsidiary of Excellence In Broadcasting  (EIB) News Editor Emmanuel Ohene -Gyan has been selected by Ghana’s Petroleum Commission to participate in the maiden edition of oil & gas trade mission in Aberdeen.

The program put together by the Petroleum Commission, UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce and the Scottish Development International is aimed at positioning Ghanaian Oil &Gas companies for better opportunities in the upstream sector to Europe’s Oil capital .

The program will see 40 Ghanaian companies to participate in the Commission’s first Oil and Gas Trade Mission in Aberdeen, Scotland. The one-week event scheduled for 11th to 15th June is aimed at positioning indigenous Ghanaian companies to take advantage of one-on-one networking opportunities provided by their Scottish counterparts seeking business opportunities in Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry.

According to Ohene -Gyan, this initiative is in pursuance of Regulation 1(c), (d) and (e) of the Petroleum Local Content and Local Participation Regulations (L.I 2204), in a bid to ensure that indigenous companies are exposed to industry best practices of more developed jurisdictions and possibly build strategic/joint venture partnerships with international companies.
At a pre-departure meeting with representatives of Ghanaian companies, Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, Mr. Egbert Faibille Jnr. advised participants to prepare adequately to take advantage of this opportunity by learning from developed jurisdictions. “These possible strategic partnerships under Regulation 4(6) of L.I. 2204 are expected to stimulate growth, commercial viability, business skills, competitiveness and technology transfer among Ghanaian businesses,” said Mr. Faibille.

The Scottish Development International Regional Manager for Africa, Mr. Andy Monaghan also advised participants to make the most of this opportunity to network with Scottish companies. “SDI is an investment arm of the Scottish government specialised in identifying market opportunities and facilitating business relationships for many Scottish companies. We are keen to work with you to ensure that you make the most out of this engagement,” he assured participants.
The Deputy Minister of Energy responsible for Petroleum, Hon. Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam is leading the Trade Mission , supported by other senior government officials.
