Galamsey Queen Aisha Huang has been charged for illegally entering Ghana without a permit at the High Court.
Among the latest charges included the restoration of the previous charges that were discontinued by the Attorney-General in 2018.
Appearing before the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court on Friday, September 16, 2022, Aisha Huang pleaded not guilty to four charges two days after appearing before the Circuit Court.
She was remanded into prison custody by the court presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo to reappear on October 11.
The charges are; undertaking a mining operation without a licence, facilitating the participation of persons engaged in a mining operation, illegal employment of foreign nationals, and entering Ghana while prohibited from re-entering.
According to EIB Network’s Court Correspondent Murtala Inusah, Aisha Huang appeared in court with four other accomplices whose pleas were not taken.
The notorious galamsey Queen was first arrested in May 2017 and charged for undertaking illegal mining but was subsequently deported.
She, was, however, re-arrested in Kumasi two weeks ago by the National Security for ostensibly sneaking back into the country to continue her galamsey business – sparking outrage among the Ghanaian public who are calling for her prosecution.
