The Ho Municipal Assembly in the Volta region is expected to commence a demolishing exercise on Monday as a result of flooding in the area on Saturday July 8, 2023.
Residents of Ho were hit by three hours of heavy downpour causing severe flooding with houses submerged in the floodwaters.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Francis Abban Monday the Volta regional National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Ivy Amewugah stated that the Municipal Chief Executive has assured of actions to taken to curb the situation.
“From what we have witnessed this is the first of its kind, service center normally get flooded but this time the impact was really serious and we realized that there were few structures on water ways. The MCE and the Assembly were part of the team of NADMO staff that went round yesterday. To have first-hand information of what actually happened on the Saturday afternoon.
“So the Assembly has assured us that action will begin immediately to pull down those structures on the waterways. The impact is really severe,” Mrs. Amewugah stated.
She however indicated that with respect to the number of persons affected her outfit is now compiling the figures and as well expecting report from the Ho Municipal Assembly.
“Right now I can’t give any number because there are other places that have been affected. Yesterday we went round but we couldn’t get to all the places. We were at Bankoa, Donukudzi bridge, barracks and Fohjo street. So we went to a number of places and we are now compiling the total figures,” Mrs. Amewugah added.
