She secured 341 votes.

The contenders included Kenneth Kwabena Agyei Kuranchie, who had 27 votes, Prince Owusu Mensah with six votes, Akoto Alberta Afia Asomaniwa with 228 votes, and Nyarko Stephen Adipa also had 108 votes. Fuseini Issah, the former MP for the area was able to secure 114 votes.

A total of 850 delegates participated in the election within the Okaikwei North constituency, where six aspirants vied to become the next parliamentary candidate for the NPP.

In a brief interview with the media after her victory, she indicated that the constituency will have to reconcile quickly for the betterment of the party.

“I’m not surprised about winning the contest because delegates bought into my message very well.

“I’m going to work with everyone that has contested me in this election whether aggrieved or not. We need to reconcile for the greater good of the party,” Madam Dokua stated.
