Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has cautioned his colleague New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) against negative commentary on the selection of Energy minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Some Majority MPs prominent among them is that of Asante Akyem North, Andy Appiah-Kubi have shot down the choice of NAPO as running.
“Well, I wouldn’t speak for the majority because we have not been consulted as a caucus for us to state our position. But me, Appiah-Kubi, you can solicit my view on that. If it were up to me to choose, I wouldn’t choose him (NAPO),” he told Joy News.
Addressing the media Afenyo-Markin urged his charges to be mindful of the sensitive nature of the matter arguing the party is yet final the matter.
“So I would want to encourage colleague Members of Parliament that we are in this together and there is no perfect person in the world. The language that we use may not be helpful so that is all my advice.
“Let us please be measured in the language that we use, the flagbearer of the party has the confidence of the party and I believe that he would use the structures of the party to come up with certain decisions that he has for us,” Mr. Afenyo-Markin stated.
He continued: “So let us wait and at least respect the leadership of the party. We should not go out of our way to denigrate ourselves, we should not go out of our way to describe ourselves in a manner that would be unacceptable.”
