THE PEOPLE OF BOLGATANGA CENTRAL DESERVE AN UNQUALIFIED APOLOGY FROM TV3 FOR THE REGRETTABLE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING THE COMMUNITY MANIFESTO

The recent article claiming that Hon. Isaac Adongo, MP for Bolgatanga Central, refused an invitation from TV3 to participate in a debate is entirely false and misleading. Contrary to these allegations, Hon. Adongo made every effort to accommodate TV3’s Community Manifesto program, adjusting his schedule multiple times. Unfortunately, TV3 consistently failed to honor the agreed schedule and repeatedly postponed the event without offering an apology for the inconvenience caused.

The people of Bolgatanga Central deserve a full, sincere, and unconditional apology from TV3 for the utter disregard shown to them.

Here is a detailed sequence of events from that day:

1. The program was widely advertised by TV3 to be held between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.
2. On the day of the event, TV3 failed to show up at the scheduled time and did not communicate any changes to me or my constituents. It was only through unofficial channels that we learned the event had been rescheduled first to 2 p.m. and then to 4 p.m. Yet again, TV3 did not appear and failed to inform us.
3. Finally, we were informed—again through unofficial channels—that the event had been moved to 8 p.m. When the TV3 van arrived, it became clear that additional seating was required for the stakeholders in attendance.
4. NDC executives had arranged for plastic chairs for our members. When they arrived, some members of the opposition NPP mistook them for chairs provided by TV3, leading to a misunderstanding and a dispute over seating.
5. When I arrived at the venue, I noticed that the TV3 host and team, along with the opposing candidate, were not present, leading to further delays.
6. I was then informed that the program had been rescheduled for the following day, without any prior notice or consent from me.
7. I had no choice but to withdraw from the program after TV3’s repeated failures to adhere to the schedule and communicate respectfully with us.

Hon. Adongo remains fully committed to engaging with his constituents and promoting transparency. His decision to withdraw from the debate was solely due to the handlers of the Community Manifesto program and failing on their established responsibilitiy directly touching on poor communication rather than Hon Adongo”s reluctance to participate in the program. Any portrayal of him as non-committal or evasive is baseless and should be dismissed.

TV3, I do agree is a great media house but for this occasion it owes the people of Bolgatanga Central an unreserved apology for this unprofessional handling of the event.
