Security analyst, Dr. Adam Bonaa, has emphasized the need for a localized approach to conflict resolution in Ghana.
In an interview on Starr Today with Tutuwaa Danso Dr. Bonaa emphasized that the lack of a decentralized conflict resolution framework has significant implications for Ghana’s peace and security.
He explained that by relying solely on centralized authorities, local communities are often disenfranchised from the conflict resolution process.
According to him, the country’s current centralized approach to conflict resolution is inadequate.
Dr. Bonaa noted that “We have over-centralized the fight against conflict in this country so we do not have as a policy a localized way of dealing with conflict.”
Dr. Bonaa’s statement suggests that empowering local communities to resolve conflicts could lead to more effective and sustainable solutions.
By decentralizing conflict resolution, Ghana can tap into the unique knowledge and expertise of local stakeholders, ultimately leading to more peaceful and stable communities.
