Asante Kotoko has officially withdrawn from all football activities in response to the passing of their devoted supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong, widely known as Nana Pooley.
The dedicated supporter, who also served as a Communications Member of the Supporters’ Group, was tragically stabbed to death by unknown assailants during Asante Kotoko’s Matchday 19 fixture at Nana Kronmansah Park in Twumasikrom.
In a statement released on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the club stated that all first-team activities have been put on hold and will only resume after justice is served.
However, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has suspended Matchday 20 games as part of its efforts to ensure justice.
The Nana Kronmansah Park has been indefinitely banned, while the GFA Disciplinary Committee has also charged four Asante Kotoko players and six Nsoatreman FC players.
Additionally, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, the owner and bankroller of Nsoatreman FC, along with two others, has been arrested by the Bono Regional Police.
