The youth, branch executives, and party members of the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency in the Eastern Region have issued a passionate appeal to President John Mahama and the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to fulfill electoral promises made during the 2024 campaign by considering the nomination of the Member of Parliament Bismark Tetteh Nyarko as a Deputy Minister.
At a press conference held at Asesewa, the group explained that during the 2024 election campaigns, the NDC’s National Chairman, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and former President John Dramani Mahama assured the people of Upper Manya Krobo that their Member of Parliament, Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, would be considered for a ministerial position.

According to them, these promises were made in the presence of chiefs, community leaders, and party faithful.
However, as the government’s appointments near completion, the party faithfuls say they are yet to see any indication that their MP Bismark Tetteh Nyarko will be appointed as a minister.
In a statement, the youth and party members expressed their disappointment and called on the President and NDC leadership to honor their pledge.
“Appointing Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko as a minister will not only boost the morale of our party members but also demonstrate the NDC’s commitment to our constituency,” the statement read. “We have waited patiently, and now we urge the leadership to fulfill their promises.”
Petition for DCE Nomination
On the appointment of the District Chief Executive (DCE) , branch executives, and grassroots of the NDC in Upper Manya Krobo threw their weight behind Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Lawer as their preferred candidate for the DCE position.
In their petition, they say Hon. Kwasi Lawer, is a three-term assembly member for the Resttlement/Aframase Electoral Area, with lot of experience in local governance and widely regarded as a development-oriented leader with a deep understanding of local governance.
The group further argue that the constituency executives conducted a thorough evaluation of eight candidates and unanimously endorsed Hon. Lawer as the most qualified candidate.
Also various youth groups, including the Young Allies, The Door-to-Door Group, and The Green Army Group, have also expressed their support for his nomination.
“Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Lawer is the ideal candidate to lead our district,” the petition stated. “His commitment to development aligns with our aspirations for progress in Upper Manya Krobo.”
The petitioners emphasized that the constituency has never had a DCE who lives among at the grassroot , which has historically hindered development. They believe that Hon. Lawer’s appointment will address this gap and strengthen the NDC’s prospects in future elections.
The youth and party members warned that the NDC’s fortunes in the 2028 general election in Upper Manya Krobo depend significantly on the DCE nomination.
They appealed to the NDC’s National Executive Committee (NEC), Functional Executive Committee (FEC), and the President to heed their call and appoint Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Lawer as DCE.
“We will not accept any other candidate,” the petition stated. “Hon. Lawer is the choice of the chiefs, grassroots, party executives, and the entire NDC family in the district.”
