In line with its responsibilities towards the Socio-economic development and good governance of the Ashanti Region; Management of the Excellence In Broadcasting (EIB) Network Kumasi Cluster has HELD FRUITFUL TALKS WITH the Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene

The delegation that visited the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council included Business Manager Daniel Attah Aggrey; Programs Manager for Abusua FM Kojo Marfo and Programs, Events, Brands and Marketing Manager Nana Benyin Anumel.

The aim was to discuss areas of collaboration as part of the station’s commitment to playing its oversight role as a responsible media house while projecting opportunities for development and investments in the region.

Welcoming the team; the Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene commended the station for the initiative pledging to foster press freedoms and a cordial relationship between the RCC and media houses.

He emphasized, “His excellency the president is much more interested in your freedoms as a media house and your ability to talk about the issues without fear or favor. Specifically, with EIB; you are a very big platform, well connected across the length and breadth of the country,”

“Here in the Ashanti Region you’ve been supportive and very helpful to the course of development. I want to assure you our doors are always open,” Dr. Frank Amoakohene reassured.

Maiden Ashanti Festival

The Regional minister solicited the support of EIB Network towards the inaugural AshantiFest celebration aimed at boosting the local economy of the Ashanti Region through Culture, Entertainment and Tourism.

Dr. Amoakohene was optimistic it was about time the region leveraged its uniqueness to project a festival that draws masses to have a feel of the region’s richness of nature and culture similar to what happens during Easter and Christmas in other regions.

He disclosed that while dates were being firmed up, the region should between 15th and 20th of April, expect headline programs including a night of stage plays and entertainment with the kumawood stars as well as a night of comedy with the crew behind Ghanaian courtroom satirical comic TV series, Kejetia Vrs Makola.

The Regional Minister added that the event will also be heralded with a Mega Clean up Exercise and a medical outreach and exhibition at the Kumasi Central Prisons where he commended prison officers and inmates for their industriousness in making several artifacts and crafts like the Kente Cloth.

He told the EIB team, “as a student of corporate governance and business administration, I am well aware of leveraging uniqueness to attract investors. The regions culture, ecotourism and our creative arts industry is one key strength and any government that downplays that, may not be able to harness the full potential.”

“With my interaction with our team and the team on social media we seek to drive that attention for the region especially looking at how instances and experiences drive people to other regions to go experience their rich culture and way of life,” he explained.

Assurances from EIB Network

Business Manager Daniel Attah Aggrey described the discussions as fruitful indicating that the station will offer both constructive criticism and positive collaboration to the RCC to advance the development aspirations of the Ashanti Region.

“EIB Kumasi Cluster as a media entity, came to welcome the minister into office and to also show our solidarity. We have assured him that we will support and keep him on his toes as regards the developmental tasks he is expected to deliver.

“The minister has also outlined events and activities which we are excited about because it falls in line with some of the things we do. We are offering our support to project the region to the world, to draw the needed investments into Ashanti Region,” he assured.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, the youngest the region has ever had, is in his seventh week in office with a lot of expectations especially from the youth; to acquit himself creditably.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene has garnered tremendous goodwill from the populace having held a well-attended clean up exercise on Independence Day and showing grit in proposing solutions to the regions teething security, electricity, illegal mining and commercial challenges.
