The Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has made a passionate appeal to the Electoral Commission to swiftly resolve the protracted delay in collating the parliamentary election results for the Ablekuma North Constituency.
Ablekuma North remains the only constituency without a Member of Parliament, months after the 2024 general elections, due to unresolved disputes surrounding the outcome of the parliamentary vote.
Ahead of a scheduled meeting with the Electoral Commission, Dr. Yohuno stressed the need for swift action to restore public confidence in the electoral process.
“The EC must provide the National Election Security Taskforce with a clear roadmap for the formalization of the collation process,” he stated.
He described the situation as critical, cautioning that its handling would significantly shape national perceptions of electoral integrity.
“This is a pivotal moment. The way we manage the collation in Ablekuma North will echo across the country. It will set the tone not only for this election but for public confidence in future democratic processes,” Dr. Yohuno added.
He also appealed to all stakeholders to work together toward a peaceful and timely resolution.
“Let us safeguard not just the ballot boxes, but also the trust in our democratic system. Let us protect not only lives, but the very spirit of democracy,” he urged.
