The hearings of the three petitions for the potential removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo began on Friday, May 23, with the first witness testifying before the five-member committee established by President John Dramani Mahama.
Despite the suspended Chief Justice’s pending Supreme Court action challenging the committee’s composition, led by Justice Gabriel Pwamang, the committee has opted to proceed with the hearings.
The suspended CJ had filed a suit on May 21, through former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame, questioning the committee’s validity.
This marks the committee’s third sitting day and the Chief Justice’s second appearance since May 15..
Starrfm.com.gh gathered that lawyers of the Chief Justice will subject the witness to cross examination on Monday, May 26, 2025.
