The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has disclosed that the student who delivered a baby while sitting her Computing paper will have to continue writing the weeklong examination tomorrow.

Speaking on Starr Today with Efua Tutuwaa Danso on Wednesday, June 11, WAEC’s Director of Public Affairs, John Kapi said the student will also have to write the Computing paper again.

“The student who delivered during the Exams will have to rewrite the ICT exams but will have to continue the remaining papers tomorrow,” Mr. John Kapi noted.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Asenua Presbyterian Junior High School Examination Centre in Mamponteng, located in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

According to reports, a policewoman escorting the candidate to the washroom on the first day of the examination noticed signs of distress. Upon entering the facility, she discovered that the student was already in labour.

A teacher at the examination center, Mr. Desmond Adjei, told Ultimate 106.9 FM that the student was quickly moved to the headmaster’s office, where she successfully delivered a baby boy.

The incident has sparked conversations around teenage pregnancy, student welfare, and the unique challenges some candidates face while writing examinations.
