Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, has commended the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for what he described as a “remarkable improvement” in its revenue collection efforts for the first half of 2025.
Addressing Parliament, Mr. Jinapor revealed that ECG had collected GHS 1.6 billion in revenue, a significant increase compared to the same period in 2024, though short of its GHS 2.5 billion target.
“For instance, this month, at the end of the month, ECG… was able to raise about 1.6 billion, which is a remarkable improvement year on year,” the Minister stated.
He noted that while ECG has not yet reached its projected revenue goals, the progress made reflects a positive trend in the company’s operational performance.
“What it means is that this year, this month of 2025, as compared to same month 2024, there’s a remarkable improvement in terms of the revenue collection,” Jinapor added.
He urged ECG management to continue improving efficiency and meet the full target to support the country’s energy sustainability goals.
