The Office of former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has dismissed reports suggesting he is attempting to overturn the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) decision on early primaries or seeking to postpone the upcoming National Delegates Conference scheduled for July 19, 2025.
In a statement dated July 14, 2025, the office described as “completely false” claims published on news platforms Otec FM Ghana and GhanaWeb that the former President had made such a request.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state emphatically that these reports are completely false,” the statement read.
It further clarified that President Akufo-Addo has been out of the country and has not made any such request “either by a petition or any other means,” nor does he have any intention to do so.
The office also accused the sources behind the publications of pursuing a personal agenda unrelated to advancing the NPP’s success.
“Clearly, those behind these publications have an agenda of their own, which has nothing to do with improving the fortunes of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),” the statement concluded.
The clarification comes amid growing speculation over internal party dynamics ahead of the NPP’s upcoming national event.
