The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has postponed the reopening of the university for the 2026/2027 academic year indefinitely due to the ongoing strike by the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA).

The reopening was originally scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

In a press release dated October 9, 2026, the university management said the decision had become necessary because of the strike action and its impact on the effective operations and administration of the university.

Management has advised students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders to take note of the development.

It added that further updates on the revised reopening date would be communicated in due course.

The university also expressed regret over the inconvenience the postponement might cause and thanked stakeholders for their understanding and cooperation.
