Renowned media executive and General Manager of EIB Network, Nana Yaa Serwaa Sarpong, delivered a rousing keynote address and received honours at the 2025 National Youth Mentorship Summit and Awards held at the University of Ghana Business School on Saturday, July 12.

In her keynote address, she urged the youth to embrace global standards, intentional living, and purpose-driven growth.

“We are our only competition,” she said. “But when setting your standards, set them to both continental and global benchmarks.”

Drawing inspiration from Psalm 90:12 and Proverbs 4:23, Nana Yaa encouraged the audience to value time and guard their hearts. “What you set your heart to determines what you achieve,” she noted, calling for discipline, consistency, and courage. A standout line from her address – “What separates a poor man from a wealthy one is courage” – received thunderous applause.

She also shared her vision for Women in Sustainability Africa (WiSA), an initiative aimed at promoting inclusive development and gender-balanced innovation across the continent. “If it resonates with you,” she told the audience, “join and help shape a future of sustainable leadership, nation and continent.”

In another segment, Nana Yaa outlined how Ghanaian youth can leverage the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to drive innovation and opportunity. “Use the SDGs to solve local problems with global thinking. Create value, and prosperity will follow,” she urged.

Themed “YouthPreneur: A Catalyst for a New Economy,” the summit was hosted by LEC Group CEO Albert Prempeh Kusi. Other notable guest speakers included Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency; Georgina Asare Fiagbenu of MTN Ghana; Richie Mensah of Lynx Entertainment; Sina Kamagate of GCB Bank PLC; and Janet Sunkwa-Mills, CEO of Afribiz Group.

The event brought together thought leaders in entrepreneurship, finance, media, and leadership, with a focus on practical inspiration and nation-building.

Nana Yaa concluded with a lasting message to the youth: “Be disciplined. Be consistent. Be courageous. And never forget – sustainability starts with you.”
