The government has announced a new directive requiring all machinery used in mining activities across the country to be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) by August 1, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior and signed by sector Minister Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed, the move forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at streamlining operations within the mining sector and strengthening regulation.
The ministry warned that any equipment found unregistered after the deadline will be confiscated by the state.
The Ghana Police Service and the DVLA have been instructed to begin strict enforcement of the directive from August 2, 2025.
The ministry has therefore urged the general public, particularly individuals and companies engaged in mining activities, to comply with the new directive without delay.
“The Ministry of the Interior is committed to ensuring internal security and the maintenance of law and order in the country,” the statement concluded.
