The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has scheduled Monday, August 4, 2025, for its parliamentary primaries in the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region.
The primaries follows the demise of the Akwatia Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Monday, July 7.
In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC outlined a detailed timetable and guidelines for the internal contest.
Nomination forms will be available for collection at the Eastern Regional Office from Monday, July 28, and must be submitted at the same location once completed.
Aspirants will only receive the official delegates’ list after confirming payment of the approved filing fee into the party’s official account at UMB Bank, Adabraka Branch.
The party noted that cheques and bankers’ drafts will not be accepted.
In a move to promote inclusivity, the NDC announced a 50% reduction in the filing fee for female aspirants and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Filing of nominations will take place on Wednesday, July 30, with vetting of aspirants set for Thursday, July 31. The internal elections will be held on August 4, barring any last-minute changes.
The party urged all aspirants and stakeholders to conduct their campaigns with decorum, unity, and respect, stressing its commitment to a transparent and fair electoral process.
