The Ministry of Health has strongly condemned the recent attack on health professionals at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital.
In a press release signed by Deputy Director and Spokesperson, Tony Goodman, the Ministry described the incident at the hospital’s Emergency Department as an “unfortunate act of interference, aggression, and assault” against healthcare workers.
The Ministry stressed that such acts threaten the safety of health professionals, disrupt the delivery of critical healthcare services, and put patients’ lives at risk.
As part of urgent measures, the Ministry has announced plans to beef up security at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital to safeguard staff, patients, and visitors. Additionally, investigations have been launched into the circumstances surrounding the reported delay in care, with steps to address any identified lapses.
The incident gained public attention after a video surfaced online showing a heated confrontation between emergency ward staff and a group of individuals, including popular social media activist Ralph.
The Management of Ridge Hospital has strongly condemned the assault, cautioned the public against taking videos or photographs of patients and clinicians without consent, and reassured Ghanaians of its continuous commitment to providing quality and timely healthcare.

Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has since visited the hospital where he received firsthand information about the incident. He reassured management and staff of the Ministry’s full support and protection.
The Ministry further appealed to the public to remain patient, cooperative, and respectful at all times to enable healthcare workers to provide effective and timely care.
