Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has congratulated the Black Stars on their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing it as a proud moment for the nation and a testament to the team’s resilience and unity.

In a statement issued by the Parliamentary Service dated Monday, October 13, 2025, the Speaker, on behalf of the entire Parliament of Ghana, commended the players, technical team, and support staff for their dedication and hard work, which culminated in Ghana’s qualification for the global tournament to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

“Their success not only fills the nation with pride but also highlights Ghana’s sporting excellence,” the Speaker noted.

He urged the team to maintain high levels of discipline, teamwork, and determination as they prepare to compete on football’s biggest stage, assuring them of Parliament’s full support.

“Parliament stands firmly behind you and encourages all Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars with unwavering support and unity, confident that they will make the nation proud and inspire future generations through their exemplary performance,” the statement added.

The Speaker also called on the public to rally behind the team in one accord, emphasizing that the Black Stars embody the strength, spirit, and aspirations of the Ghanaian people.

Ghana secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a thrilling 1-0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday night, with Mohammed Kudus’ decisive second-half strike sealing the country’s return to the global stage.
