Security consultant Richard Kumadoe has expressed strong support for the two-year extension of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, citing his operational competence and leadership within the Ghana Police Service.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey on Wednesday, November 26, Kumadoe said, “Definitely, yes… about sixty-seven of the items are listed as key facilitators or competence of the IGP for which it deserves extension. So, I wasn’t surprised at all.”
President John Dramani Mahama approved Yohuno’s re-engagement until December 28, 2025, following recommendations from the Police Council, with the aim of sustaining ongoing reforms and ensuring stability within the service.
Kumadoe highlighted Yohuno’s performance in managing electoral events and personnel matters as critical factors for the extension.
“Yohuno did it quickly… deservedly, people had their promotion. There were some other people who were sent home, and people felt that the Ghana Police Management Board felt that it was too high. So they called them back. Yohuno called them back,” he explained.
He further noted that Yohuno’s experience and collaborative approach with former officers and the CID bloc have strengthened stability, continuity, and operational efficiency across the Ghana Police Service.
