President John Dramani Mahama has charged Ghana’s newly commissioned High Commissioners and Ambassadors to ensure that their diplomatic missions translate into real benefits for the country.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony at the Presidency, the President emphasized the importance of purposeful diplomacy, saying, “Your mission plans must be firmly aligned with Ghana’s development priorities.”
He encouraged the envoys to focus on economic diplomacy, attracting strategic investments, and creating opportunities that directly impact the lives of Ghanaians.

President Mahama reminded the envoys that Ghana’s reputation as a “stable democracy and a very strong responsible nation is a result of decades of sacrifice and national consensus,” and noted that their appointments are a call to serve with competence, integrity, and purpose.
He further urged the diplomats to project Ghana as a dependable international partner and to engage meaningfully with the diaspora and foreign stakeholders to generate tangible results for the nation.

The newly sworn-in envoys include:
- Alhaji Said Saleh Sinare, Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- Lt. Col. Al Hajj Umar Sanda Ahmed, Ambassador to the Republic of Mali
- Kofi Attor, Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba
- Emmanuel Opeku, Ambassador-in-Situ
- Regina Appiah-Sam, High Commissioner to the Republic of Malta
President Mahama stressed that the success of these envoys would be measured not by ceremonial functions, but by their ability to foster trade, investment, tourism, and strategic partnerships that advance Ghana’s national development agenda.
