President John Dramani Mahama has tasked the Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) to provide expert guidance on key national initiatives, including the proposed 24-hour economy and an accelerated export development programme.
Speaking at the inauguration of the advisory body, President Mahama said PAGE would support the design and implementation of flagship programmes aimed at boosting productivity and driving inclusive growth.
He said the group would advise on sectoral development, private sector expansion, investment mobilisation and sustainable job creation, while conducting periodic assessments of Ghana’s economic performance.
The President added that PAGE would also provide expert input into Ghana’s engagements with bilateral and multilateral partners, international financial institutions and investors.
“In constituting this group, I was guided by experience, diversity of expertise and sectoral balance,” he said.
President Mahama highlighted the inclusion of members with backgrounds in fiscal policy, monetary management, capital markets, academia and private enterprise. He also pointed to gender and generational balance within the group as a strategic decision, not a symbolic one.
He cautioned members against underestimating the task ahead, describing the road to recovery as tough despite progress made so far.
“I expect rigorous analysis, constructive disagreements and solutions that place Ghana firmly on a path of economic recovery, resilience and inclusive growth,” he stated.
President Mahama formally declared the Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy duly inaugurated, expressing confidence that its work would contribute significantly to Ghana’s economic transformation.
