Five people have died and the driver is in critical condition following a trailer accident on the Kwahu Highway on Monday, March 9, 2026.
Information gathered by Agoo FM News indicates that the incident occurred when the trailer, fully loaded with cement and heading toward Kotoso in the Kwahu East District, reportedly suffered brake failure and overturned.
Madam Sylvia Apoya, Public Relations Officer of the Kwahu South Municipal Fire Service, said the crash happened around 6:14 a.m.
“The trailer overturned, resulting in the instant death of five persons on board. The driver sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment,” she said.
The critically injured driver was only able to give limited information to medical personnel, reportedly explaining that it was his first time working with the assistants, referred to as ‘loading boys,’ who tragically lost their lives in the accident.
Authorities have yet to confirm where the cement was loaded from, but family members from Obomeng and Mpraeso have identified the deceased.
Madam Apoya added that investigations are ongoing and that more details will be provided as they become available.
