The Hope Network, a community-based charity group operating in Tapa, in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region, has taken steps to strengthen its operations and expand its impact following a strategic courtesy visit to Professor Mark Appiah on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

The meeting, held in Accra, brought together nine members of the group’s leadership led by President Jonas Ohene Asiedu. The agenda focused on ideas and suggestions to improve the work of the organization.

Prof. Appiah, who chairs the Oti Regional Health Committee, commended the group for its resilience, consistency, and impact, noting that “the name of the group has gone far and we need to work hard to protect it. Indeed you’re the hope of Tapaman.”

He challenged the team to do more, referencing the biblical accounts of Jabez and Nehemiah to stress focus and perseverance. “When challenges come, we don’t give up, we must stand strong and firm towards the goal,” he told members.

During a professional presentation on nonprofit management, Prof. Appiah urged the Hope Network to adopt structures common to standard charity organizations to position itself for donor funding. His recommendations included:

  1. Develop a project charter to clearly define targets and align with donor requirements.
  2. Institute oversight boards, including a Board of Directors with influential and financially strong members, and Monitoring & Evaluation Officers to track projects.
  3. Strengthen time management and mutual respect within the group.
  4. Route funds through organizational accounts first to keep them active, even when proceeds are handed to community leadership.

Prof. Appiah disclosed plans to explore partnership events between the Oti Regional Health Committee and the Hope Network in the healthcare space.

He also pledged to leverage his working relationship with APRIL-STEM on the Ghana Library makerspace project to lobby for a Ghana Library Authority E-Library site at Tapa-Amanfrom. The site would support The Hope Network’s plan to establish a STEM Center in the community.
