The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting investment and operational improvements in Ghana’s petroleum sector following a working visit to key offshore production facilities in the Western Basin.
The Minister toured the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) John Evans Atta Mills, which serves the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) Fields, as well as the Noble Venturer drilling vessel operating offshore Ghana.
The visit formed part of efforts to assess ongoing operations, engage industry partners, and explore opportunities to sustain and increase oil and gas production.
Speaking after the tour, Dr. Jinapor described the TEN Fields as one of Ghana’s most strategic offshore assets, highlighting their significant contribution to both the country’s petroleum industry and electricity generation.
According to him, gas produced from the TEN Fields continues to play a critical role in supporting thermal power generation, helping to ensure reliable electricity supply for industries, businesses, and households across the country.
The Minister commended the workforce and industry partners for their professionalism and dedication, noting that the facilities maintain some of the highest safety standards in the sector.
“I was particularly impressed by the professionalism, dedication and commitment demonstrated by the workforce and partners on site. The FPSO and rig teams continue to maintain one of the highest levels of safety adherence in the industry,” he said.
He noted that the strong safety culture reflects operational excellence, discipline, and a commitment to protecting both personnel and the environment.
Dr. Jinapor further encouraged operators and partners to remain innovative and collaborative in efforts to unlock greater value from Ghana’s petroleum resources.
He assured stakeholders that government remains committed to creating an enabling environment for sustained investment in the upstream sector, with the objective of increasing production, strengthening energy security, and maximizing benefits for the Ghanaian people.
The TEN Fields remain a key component of Ghana’s oil and gas portfolio and continue to contribute significantly to domestic energy supply and export revenues.
