The Ghana Police Service has arrested Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena and two other suspects in connection with a shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament (MP), Sarah Adwoa Safo.
Israel Kwadwo Safo reportedly surrendered himself to the Regional Police Headquarters on Monday, June 22, 2026, and was subsequently transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters for further questioning.
A police search conducted on the suspect’s vehicle and his residence in Kwabenya resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of ammunition and firearms.
Items seized include 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 50 rounds of .45 calibre ammunition, 25 rounds of .40 calibre ammunition, additional loaded magazines, and two Glock pistols — one of which is registered in his name.
Investigations further led to the arrest of two additional suspects, Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson, who have also been linked to the case.
All three suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. They are scheduled to be arraigned before court today, Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
