GES freezes salary of Teacher in viral Bole SHS Scandal; manhunt underway

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, has announced that the salary of the Bole Senior High School teacher caught in a viral video allegedly engaging in sexual misconduct with a student has been frozen, effective June 30, 2026.

Speaking on the incident, which has sparked widespread national outrage, Prof. Davis confirmed that the teacher has absconded and is currently being pursued by law enforcement.

“We asked the police to cause his arrest. Our understanding is that he has absconded, so we have proceeded to stop his salary,” Prof. Davis stated.

He further added, “We are depending on the police to apprehend him, so that we take him through the process.”

The GES Director-General emphasized that the Service is committed to upholding its code of conduct to ensure a safe environment for students.

He noted that the teacher in question had been interdicted prior to his disappearance and that the institution is pursuing the matter with the utmost severity.

“We want to pursue legal action against the staff involved and also take him through our established processes—the code of conduct—so that at the end of the day, we apply the rules as stipulated,” Prof. Davis explained.

“We will apply the toughest sanction to serve as a deterrent, because we want our school environment to be safe, and teachers who expose children the way we saw in the video do not have a place at the school.

Prof. Davis also addressed concerns regarding whether this was an isolated incident. He revealed that preliminary information suggests the teacher may have been involved in similar conduct with other students, fueling the urgency of the ongoing police investigation.

“The information I have received so far suggests to me that the earlier video we saw might not be the only one,” he remarked.

The incident has drawn strong condemnation from stakeholders, including the National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTA), which has demanded the permanent delisting and prosecution of the teacher to protect students from further abuse.

The GES continues to collaborate with security agencies to apprehend the suspect and ensure justice is served.
