A total of 1,432 victims of human trafficking have received rehabilitation and reintegration support as the government expands interventions aimed at protecting survivors of exploitation and abuse.
Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, said the support includes psychosocial care, rehabilitation and other assistance to help survivors rebuild their lives after experiencing trafficking.
She said 181 survivors had received trauma-informed care at shelters, while another 69 had been referred for additional support and services.
Dr Lartey also disclosed that the Ministry had provided counselling, legal and financial assistance to 152 survivors of domestic violence.

Government expands shelter network
Dr Lartey said the government had commissioned a shelter in Accra and supported the establishment of two additional shelters in the Upper West and Eastern Regions.
She said the long-term objective is to establish a network of shelters across all 16 regions to ensure survivors have access to protection and essential support services.
According to the Minister, the interventions are intended to ensure that survivors receive not only immediate protection but also counselling, legal assistance and other services necessary to help them rebuild their lives following abuse or exploitation.
She said expanding these interventions remained important to strengthening the support available to survivors and helping them recover and reintegrate into society.
