Women in Sustainability Africa (WiSA), in collaboration with the UN Office for Partnerships and the African Union, will convene two high-level roundtables on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, under the patronage of the UN Deputy Secretary-General.

The sessions — the Africa Media 4 the SDGs Roundtable and the African Women Leading the SDGs Roundtable — are scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2026, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The dialogue will be hosted by Nana Yaa Serwaa Sarpong, Founder and President of WiSA and General Manager of EIB Network, and moderated by Kayode Akintemi, Managing Director of News Central, Nigeria.

The convening seeks to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa’s Agenda 2063, with a focus on placing women and young people at the centre of sustainable development.

Discussions will cover critical areas including health, climate change, renewable energy, agriculture, trade, circularity, migration, technology and artificial intelligence, with emphasis on partnerships and practical interventions.

The Africa Media Roundtable will specifically examine how African media can reshape the continent’s SDG narrative and strengthen Africa’s own development story through authentic storytelling, data visualisation, artificial intelligence and multi-platform amplification.

The media roundtable will bring together leading media executives and industry voices, including Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi (Bola Ray), CEO of EIB Network; Victoria Ajayi, CEO of TVC Nigeria; Eunice Magoma Nyamibaha, Senior Distribution Specialist at Al Jazeera Sub-Saharan Africa; David Makubyane, Head of Platforms at SABC, South Africa; Barore Cleophas, Director General of the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency; Waihinga Mwaura, Host at BBC Africa; Aya Chebbi, Podcaster at AfricaLink/DW; Omar Ben Yedder, CEO of African Business; and Sofia Ba, Founder and CEO of La Plateforme (digital), Senegal.

The wider high-level gathering will also feature Uganda’s Vice President, H.E. Jessica Alupo, alongside African women leaders, policymakers, business executives, development practitioners and young changemakers.

The discussions are expected to culminate in an Action Plan and Report, outlining key outcomes, partnerships and priority areas for accelerating SDG and Agenda 2063 implementation across Africa.
