The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has increased the producer price of cocoa from GH¢41,392 per tonne to GH¢42,400 per tonne for the 2026/2027 cocoa season.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cocobod, Randy Abbey announced at a press conference in Accra on Friday, 25 September 2026 that the new price, which takes effect immediately, represents 71.18 per cent of the realised gross free-on-board (FOB) value and translates into GH¢2,650 per 64-kilogramme bag of cocoa.
Abbey said the decision was approved by Cocobod in consultation with key stakeholders as provided under the new Cocobod Act which includes the Minister of Finance, cocoa farmers, and the Chamber of Cocoa Marketers, comprising licensed buying companies, haulers and processors.
“Cocobod and all the key stakeholders…have approved that the producer price of cocoa be increased from 41,392 cedis per ton, which was for the 25/26 season, to 42,400 cedis per ton for the 2026/2027 cocoa season. This represents 71.18% of the realised gross free-on-board FOB value and translates into 2,650 Ghana cedis per 64 kilogram bag of cocoa, effective today, Friday, the 25th of September, 2026,” Abbey said.
He added that beyond the price adjustment, Cocobod would continue to implement productivity enhancement programmes aimed at reducing the production burden on farmers.
