The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosome Freho, Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, has stated that his colleague, Manhyia South MP, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, remains undaunted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) investigation and is prepared to see the process through to its conclusion.
Speaking on Starr Today on Thursday, October 1, 2026, Asafo-Adjei Ayeh said the duration of any detention—whether seven days, one month or one year—was secondary because “that too will also come to an end and it will pass.”
He stressed that Baffour Awuah is “not scared, he’s not downcast, he’s not down-spirited.”
The Bosome Freho MP urged investigators to substantiate any claims.
“If they have an issue, they should prove the case…but we are taking everything, we are following them. They want to search his house, they want to search his office, they should go ahead and search it. If they find it, then we establish the case. We’re going to the merits of the case,” he said.
Asafo-Adjei Ayeh acknowledged a political dimension to the matter noting that different approaches might have been possible if the case involved lawyers rather than politicians, citing “a political undertone and all these things associated to it and legitimacy around that.”
For that reason, he said, the decision was taken to allow EOCO to proceed with its searches and present whatever evidence it gathers.
“We decided that hey, look, go to them, let them do whatever they want to do, let them search whatever they want to search, let us see what they will find, let us see what they will bring against you, let us see the facts of the case, and then we’ll deal with it,” he stated.
“We are still with them. So when we have when we finish with them, we will now come back to see our next line of action.”
The comments come after Baffour Awuah, a lawyer and vice-chair of Parliament’s Subsidiary Legislation Committee, surrendered to EOCO following a High Court warrant.
The agency has linked its inquiries to an ongoing investigation involving SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited, in which Baffour Awuah’s former law firm provided services.
EOCO has previously said the MP failed to honour earlier invitations; Baffour Awuah has maintained he was never personally the subject of the probe and that relevant information was provided through his firm.
