The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has granted Manhyia South Member of Parliament (MP), Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah bail in the sum of GH¢50 million with three sureties.
Mr Baffour Awuah voluntarily presented himself at EOCO’s premises at about 10 a.m. on Thursday, 1 October 2026, to assist with an ongoing investigation.
He was accompanied by his lawyer and fellow Members of Parliament. After spending several hours at the agency, he was granted bail and released.
The development follows earlier reports that an EOCO official had sought to arrest the MP on 23 September after he appeared in court to argue a bail application for a detained nurse. A formal warrant was subsequently obtained, with the court directing that it be executed through the Speaker of Parliament.
The MP had previously indicated that earlier invitations from EOCO were referred to the Clerk of Parliament.
The case has drawn political attention, with Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin earlier criticising the manner in which the MP was approached and calling for the agency to prioritise major organised crime networks instead.
