The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has arrested Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Senior Partner of Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, as part of ongoing investigations into alleged financial and economic crimes.

According to EOCO, Baffour Awuah voluntarily surrendered himself at the Office’s premises at about 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, to assist investigators.

His surrender followed what EOCO described as several months of efforts to secure his attendance before investigators.

“His appearance follows several months of efforts by the Office to secure his attendance before investigators in connection with ongoing investigations into allegations relating to criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, tax-related offences and other matters under investigation,” EOCO said.

The Office said it subsequently commenced the relevant investigative and operational procedures after Baffour Awuah reported to its premises.

“The Office subsequently commenced the applicable investigative and operational procedures in respect of Mr. Baffour Awuah,” the statement said.

EOCO added that Baffour Awuah was later placed under arrest and is cooperating with investigators.

“In accordance with those procedures, Mr. Baffour Awuah was subsequently placed under arrest and is currently cooperating with investigators as the investigative process proceeds,” EOCO said.

The Office stressed that the investigation is still ongoing and that the allegations have not been established against him.

“EOCO further wishes to assure the public that its investigations will progress professionally, independently and in accordance with due process,” it said.

The Office said it would continue to examine the available evidence and pursue all relevant lines of inquiry.

EOCO’s investigation centres on allegations including criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering and tax-related offences, among other matters.

The Office urged the public to allow the investigation and any subsequent judicial process to proceed without speculation or premature conclusions regarding the culpability of any individual.

EOCO added that it would provide further information when appropriate and legally permissible.
