Mining industry chambers from across Africa are set to converge in Accra for the African Minerals Policy Forum – Mining in Motion (AMPF–MiM) 2026, with a focus on strengthening regional cooperation and promoting sustainable growth in the mining sector.
The forum is scheduled for October 19 to 21 in Accra and will bring together key industry stakeholders to explore policy alignment, public-private partnerships and collaboration among mining operators, financiers and other sector players.
Participating organisations include the Ghana Chamber of Mines, ECOWAS Federation of Chambers of Mines, Chambre des Mines du Sénégal and the Mining Industry Association of Southern Africa (MIASA).
The chambers will headline a dedicated panel session on the theme, “Rebuilding Trust in Mining: A Chamber-Led Dialogue on Communities, Governments and Industry.”
The session will examine emerging market opportunities across the region and explore ways for mining chambers to collaborate in addressing common industry challenges.
Discussions will also focus on maximising the empowerment of artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) operators, as well as strengthening cooperation between ASM and large-scale mining (LSM) operations.
Other areas expected to feature include the development of regional infrastructure corridors, workforce development and the use of shared resources to advance the objectives of the African Mining Vision.
The panel will feature Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines and Executive Director of the ECOWAS Federation of Chambers of Mines; Ousmane Mbaye, President of the Chambre des Mines du Sénégal; and Ing. Frederick Attakumah, President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
Also participating will be Adama Soro, President of the ECOWAS Federation of Chambers of Mines, and Sokwani Chilembo, President of MIASA.

According to the organisers, bringing together regional policy actors, chamber executives, commercial lenders and industry leaders is intended to facilitate actionable framework agreements aimed at strengthening trust and standardising cross-border policies.
The forum also seeks to support efforts to accelerate sustainable mining development across the continent.
AMPF–MiM 2026 is being organised by the Ashanti Green Initiative under the leadership and patronage of the Ashanti Royal Family, with the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, serving as a principal convening partner.
The Asantehene and King of the Ashanti Kingdom of Ghana, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is the Patron of the forum.
