The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy Director of Elections and IT, Rashid Tanko Computer, says the party has not received any credible evidence of vote-buying at its recent conferences.
Speaking to Nana Aba Anamoah on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Mr Tanko Computer said the conferences were peaceful and well organised, with candidates who lost accepting the results in good faith.
He said the party had deployed election committee members and national officers to monitor the process and ensure that any alleged electoral malpractice was reported to the appropriate authorities within the party.
“If we have any credible evidence, we will deal with it. But so far, so good, things went very perfectly, peacefully, it was well organised,” he said.
Mr Tanko Computer urged party members, delegates and observers who witnessed alleged vote-buying to come forward with evidence, stressing that claims circulating on social media must be properly investigated before conclusions are drawn.
“The game is evidence,” he stressed, arguing that the party could not rely solely on information shared online to determine whether electoral malpractice had occurred.
He also pointed to directives issued by the party’s General Secretary ahead of the constituency conferences, which restricted the use of large billboards, banners and posters to party offices and voting centres.
According to him, several members complied with the directive by removing their billboards and limiting campaign materials to the approved locations.
Mr Tanko Computer stressed that the party would investigate allegations of vote-buying if credible evidence was presented, insisting that claims must be substantiated before action could be taken.
