Controversial Ghanaian hiplife artiste, A Plus, is calling for the four year ex-gratia retirement package for politicians to be scrapped.
In a Facebook video, he argued that politicians are just like any other Ghanaian and must not be given that much for service to the nation..
He wonders why the same retirement package is not given to doctors, teachers ,lawyers among others.
“The laws must be made such that every working Ghanaian must take just one time retirement package and that should be it.
“Why will one retire and take ex-gratia and after four years he or she receives retirement package for the four years served and then comes back after four years, and entitled to another retirement package. Parliamentarians should retire just once and you don’t have the right to come back. Some people have been in Parliament since 1996 and it defies logic; you retire every four years and after retiring comes back again to contest for a seat, I think the constitution must be amended that once you have retired, there’s no coming back,” he opined.
