Ghana’s Emmanuel ‘Gameboy’ Tagoe is set to lock horns with Dominican Republic’s Argenis Alexander Méndez Zapata in an IBO Lightweight Championship bout slated for September 2 dubbed “Defend to Conquer”.

The bout, put together by BabyJet promotions, will come off at the Trust Emporium in Bukom and will see the Ghanaian pugilist, taking a closer shot at his much anticipated World Title clash.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of BabyJet Promotions, Samuel Anim Addo, is optimistic his boxer will win the bout at all cost.

“I am highly confident in the abilities of my boxer ‘GameBoy’ and I believe absolutely that he will defeat Mendez in the bout.” Anim Addo told Starr Sports.

He also disclosed that several activities would be carried out in the run-up to the fight which certainly promises to be huge.

“Mendez Zapata is expected to arrive in Ghana a week before the bout. Both boxers would have the opportunity to interact with their fans at the West Hills and Marina Malls prior to the bout day.” Anim added.

Emmanuel ‘GameBoy’ Tagoe has 28 fights under his belt with 26 wins, 1 loss and 13 coming by way of knock-out and he currently holds the IBO Lightweight title while Argenis Alexander Méndez Zapata, the former IBF Super Featherweight champions has 24 wins out of 31 bouts with 12 coming by way of knock out and 5 losses.

Under-cards on the night will see a bout between Olawadu Vs Boniface Kabore while Prince Gyani faces Gideon Laryea  in the WBO African Bantamweight contest.
