The High Court in Accra has reinstated the bail conditions granted to Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, after cautioning him to desist from any future breach.

Abronye DC was granted bail on May 21, 2026, in the sum of GH₵100,000 with two sureties to be justified. As part of the conditions he was required to submit his travel documents, including his passports, to the Court Registrar.

Even though, the passports was not submitted, he filed an application for bail variation which was moved on June 4, 2026.

When the case was called on Thursday, June 4, the Court noted that Abronye DC had not yet complied with the passport condition.

It dismissed his application to vary the bail terms and ordered that Abronye (who was absent that day) be remanded into police custody until he surrendered the documents.

On Monday, June 8, 2026, Abronye DC, represented by Daniel Maatey Addo, returned to Court after submitting his passports to the Registrar on Friday, June 5.

Counsel moved fresh application for variation of the remand order, arguing that his client had now fully complied with the bail conditions.

“We appear before you this morning (Monday June 8, 2026), praying the court to vary the order remanding the accused-applicant into police custody,” counsel submitted. “This is because we have fully complied with the court order, and we pray that Your Ladyship will vary the order.”

The Court Registrar, who was present in the courtroom with the passports, confirmed receipt of the documents on Friday morning and showed the envelope to the Court.

After considering counsel’s submission and the Registrar’s confirmation, Justice Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit restored the previous bail conditions.

The Court, however, cautioned Abronye DC against any further breach, warning that any violation would result in the revocation of bail.

There was no representation from the Republic.

Abronye is facing charges at the Circuit Court for an alleged conduct conducive to the breach of peace. He had pleaded not guilty and expected back on June 14.
