Vice President of IMANI-Africa, Bright Simons says the trial against the Minority leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in the ambulance case aims to weaken the Minority caucus in Parliament.

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah says the party was scandalized during court proceedings on Thursday on the matter in which the Minority leader, Ato Forso is standing trial.

“It has come to the attention of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that during the proceedings of today, Thursday, 23rd May 2024, in the matter of the trial of the Leader of the NDC Minority in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the 3rd Accused, Mr. Richard Jakpa testified in open court that the Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame has had several meetings with him at odd hours and telephone conversations impressing on him to skew his testimony to implicate the Minority Leader.

“These are matters of fact which formed part of the court’s record of proceedings today,” the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah narrated in a statement.

In a tweet, the IMANI Africa Vice described the trial against Dr. Ato Forson as “incompetent”.

“I’ve racked my brains for eons & still can’t understand why this fact so obvious to every businessperson isn’t clear to Ghana’s Attorney-General. The case against the Minority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament for authorizing an LC is INCOMPETENT. Not just bcos of this MP’s point.”

“But more importantly because of what an LC is. An LC is not a simple instruction to pay. It is a guarantee to honor or REFUSE payment if CERTAIN CONDITIONS are met/NOT MET. This is a pure political prosecution to muzzle the opposition in Parliament. Luckily, it isn’t working,” he posted.
